Wait until all danger of frost is gone,then cut it back.Mine always gets cut back by frost so I cut out the dead stems when they start to grow again.
I chop my hardy fuchsia at the back end when the hedges get cut. I take it down to about three feet. It puts that on and more during the following summer.
Thanks for all the advice. Ive taken some cuttings Verdun..they are on the kitchen windowsill in a pot inside and upside down freezer bag. Fingers crossed
