Something's eating my plants!

Please can you help me identify what's eating my plants (clematis, choisia, and something else) and what I can do about it.

Thank you!

click on the camera icon to start. Don't try and upload too large a pic. I reduce mine to 30% to get them on here. Too big and they don't load but nothing to tell you why.

Think you've got some vine weevils. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=234

I use nematodes to deal with them - I applied them to a border 4 or 5 years ago and there's not been a problem since.

I also struggle with similar issues that turned out to be earwigs. My clematis was worst.

Earwigs murder my clematis. I mentioned it on a thread ages ago and Richard the clematis man seemed to agree.

You can set traps for them by putting straw/hay in an upside down pot. They're a nightmare. If you have any overhangs or ledges, that's where they'll be. image

I agree with you on this one. An absolute nightmare this year PP. I put out a plastic cup half full of 3/4 soy sauce and 1/4 olive oil, they are attracted by the sweet scent and can't escape once fallen in. I must of caught 30-40+.
