Astilbe
I have some astilbe which have been surviving in bone dry shade in poor soil under a large shrub.
Naturally, it has done nothing much except spread a little and throw up the odd flower head.
When I move it to a better spot, should I plant it as a clump or plant each small plant individually?
In London. Keen but lazy.

Depends how big each plant is. IF small, I would group them, suitably spaced, so they grow to become a good clump.

Thanks PD .They're small and starving

I'm going to give them a good soak and do it today.
I've moved them into improved damp soil. They deserve a break!
