I have googled these (newbie here, sorry!) They are really pretty but some sites say they are sometimes an annual? Are there different types as I would love these if they are more of a perennial!
Welcome to the site Judojub and I hope you will find it helpful for you and your garden. I have been on this site for almost a year now and have received invaluable help and encouragement from fellow gardeners.
Now your question. My sedum come back year after year although they do die down in the winter. I either cut the dead flowers off or the whole stalks, the plants are dormant until about April/May when they start to grow again. Philippa may reply with a different answer, but here in Guernsey the sedum can stay outside all year round.
Mine are just beginning to get a slight glow but the bees home in on them
The ones you need to look for are the big sedums - Sedum spectabile - commonly called Iceplants, Judojub.
There are lots of varieties available - 'Autumn Joy' is one of the most common with reddish pink flowerheads. There's a few whites as well, and 'Brilliant' is a softer pink.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you very much Guernsey donkey. I am constantly scouring internet looking for plants/shrubs etc and this one looks lovely. I have put it in my list. i do appreciate annuals etc but I would much prefer a perennial garden so these may fit right in!!
All my sedums are perennial. There may be some annuals but I haven't seen any. All the common ones you see in garden centres are perennial
