Barley extract works well too. You can buy it from most garden centres, or of course online.

If it is only green water as opposed to blanketweed, and it is a wildlife pond you can buy live Daphnia (water fleas) from an Aquarist shop and they will soon shift it, plus they are self perpetuating

if you have a pump and filter system a UV  will do it.

if not a balance has to be achieved by planting

ie. Two thirds of surface covered by plant growth

I use straw (barley straw mixed with lavender stalks is apparently best) inside a leg of a pair of tights. It really does work, cleared my pond from a thick pea soup to crystal clear in 2 weeks (takes this long for the straw to start breaking down and releasing the enzymes needed to stop algae multiplying)

It soon blends in and doesn't look unsightly. I do have a UV filter too but on its own wasn't sufficient enough in hot weather. Replace straw every 6 months (put fresh in 2 weeks before removing older straw so it gets time to get going) or if it goes black and starts to smell. Apparently chemicals are a quick fix and it can return with a vengeance. Good luck.
