Hello,
I am looking for asvice if anyone has any, when I inherited my allotment it already had a row of autumn raspberries (8m x 2m strip). In the first year I thinned it as there were so many plants and runners that the plants were weedy and rubbish. That year and last the had an okay harvest, but tasted rubbish. This year I am having a naff harvest and again they are tasteless (I have fed and mulched them so i am assuming down to variety). once they have finished fruiting this year I plan to pull the whole lot out and put a smaller section of raspberries in another spot in my allotment but does anyone have advice on a variety to choose for taste? I would prefer autumn fruiting so I dont have tp put such a huge framework up.

We have Polka - we're very pleased with them - large tasty fruits and lots of them. And my son says my raspberry jam tastes better than any he's ever tasted before.

I've got a variety called Joan J, it's just beginning to fruit now - always fruits well for me - very good flavour. I've also got some 'All gold' but only planted those this spring so have not had many fruits this year and can't say what the taste will be like yet. They seem rather softer fruit than the red, not sure if that's typical.
