Tree branches dying - don't know why

Please see a photo of the leaves off my tree, the branches are dying back. I put a healthy leaf next to unhealthy one. i don't know type of tree. Any members with ideas of what is wrong with my tree and what I should do?

It may just be the angle of the photograph, but some of those branches on the right hand side look as if they may be touching. If they are, they can rub against each other and cause damage to the bark and the layer beneath it, that transports water inside the branch. It can also let in infection. If this is the case you will need to cut out the most damaged branch to save the other one.
Does anyone else think the tree might be one of the Prunus varieties?
If it is, you mustn't prune it until June/July next year, pruning at the wrong time of year will make it susceptible to Silver Leaf Disease.
