Patchy lawn

Not sure if anyone can advise. Had issues at the beginning of the year but now my lawn is looking very nice. However I have one strip that I'm struggling to get back and attached some pictures of the worst of it. I've tried seeding but the seeds aren't taking off after several weeks now and do water it regularly.

Not sure if there is anything else I can try or just a case of being patient.imageimage

Have you used a lawn feed recently Stuart? That's quite typical of too much being applied, which can cause scorching.

Alternatively, is there an underlying issue with the ground there? Compacted or waterlogged for instance, or poorer soil.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Not sure on the soil, we did lay lots of new soil before laying. We have been having GreenThumb round doing their quarterly visits and about 6 weeks ago I put some miraclegro down but don't think too heavy.

Just annoying because the rest of the lawn is lush and feels like a carpet. This is our second attempt of laying it as the first suffered from leather jacket and this lot of turf has been down now for 2 years. We had issues with waterlogging up the other end but I spiked it and we laid the gravel round the edge as suggested for drainage and that is all good now. Just this strip and obviously keen to do whatever I can to help it and stop it getting worse.

I have watered it tonight as it's been in full sun but it was dry in that area before I watered. Some bits of it look like what I can only describe as seaweed

That sounds like dog lichen or one of the liverworts.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Anybody got any ideas of anything I can do?

    Verdun says:

Did you treat the fence there Stuart?    Possible continuous run off ?

How about making that pebble strip a little wider to incorporate that affected area?

    See original post

Fence has been done but don't think there was any run off. Was thinking of putting down some more seed for the winter.
