I purchased the above a couple of years ago from a local 'wholesale' nursey. It got largely neglected after planting in amongst some Choisya but having trimmed them back the plant is starting to fill-out probably due to the extra sunlight.

Any ideas what this shrub is? Thanks

Hi Dave. It looks like a variegated Dogwood to me. Nice plant!

    Thanks LB.

Does look similar although they seem to be generally deciduous? This is definitely evergreen. I think(!) - it's been hidden away somewhat!.

That looks like the one HF. Thanks.

I had a feeling it was from the Laurel family and considering I have a huge one at the front of the house I should have made the connection!

I take it I can prune it quite hard? In saying that it's quite a young plant so I'll go easy on it. It just needs some encouragement to bush-out a little as it was in poor growing conditions previously with the shade from the other plants.

How odd, exactly my next gardening job.  Yours is very tidy compared to my neglected pot bound gnarly!

I've read that it's lower growing than regular laurel.  And I assume it can't generate as much energy being the variegated form.  I'm going to hack out some old growth, give it a root trim and a pot and soil upgrade, and actually water it.  I've never bothered in the past, so it must be pretty drought tolerant.
