Hebe problem
Hello
I live in France and have a small terraces that gets sun all through the day with very little shade . I bought a Hebe Veronica on Friday and as it was very pot bound i re potted it yesterday . I put in in what shade i have and it seemed fine . I went to look at it this morning and its really wilted and doesn't look very good at all . I live in the south west of France and at the moment we are having temperatures of around 30 degrees. Any suggestions please
Valerie .

Bonjour Valerie. There was some sound advice from another poster on here about plants that have been moved from one pot to another. Basically, when you tipped the plant out of its original pot, you should have teased all the roots out as they will just have been growing in a circle inside the old pot. Once that has been done then the rootball should have been soaked in water for at least half an hour before being replanted. Once in the new pot with the fresh compost the plant should be well watered again and in your situation it should be kept in shade until it has settled into the new pot. I hope that helps.
Hi Ladybird
I'm new on here and have just messaged you but not sure if its gone !
.But thanks very much for your advice
Regarding the hebe , no i didn't do anything except put the plant in the new pot aend water it as i do with other plants .Some of the leaves seem to have perked up and it is in the shade , but is basically still looking sorry for itself .Should i remove it from the pot and tease out the roots as you instructed , soak it and replant tomorrow ? It is baking hot here and i have had to place all my pots all tight together in the small bit of shade i have .

Welcome Valerie. I do keep forgetting to look at messages (sorry!) but I will go and check after I've written this. Yes I would certainly do this procedure if, when you tipped it, out the roots seemed to be growing round in circles.
Hi again
Yes i think the roots were like that so i will go take a look . Its not looking much better now than it was earlier though . Hope its not too late . Will let you know tomorrow .
Thanks again.
Valerie
Hi Valerie - I think Ladybird's advice is spot on and if you can get the roots teased out and a decent amount of moisture into your plant it should be ok. Your temps are certainly very high for it, so if you can provide a bit of extra shade with netting, or something similar, for a while, that might also help with the recovery. It will tend to dry out more quickly in a pot anyway.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hi .
Yes i did what Ladybird said and my plant is very happy againg this morning than you . All of my plants are in the shade and will stay there until the weather cools off a bit .Thank fully we don't get these very high temps all the time through the summer . I have a courtyard paved garden , stone house , so everything holds the heat . We were sat out last night intil 10 pm and the stone and slabs still felt warm .Very much like Greek summer weather at the moment .
Valerie
Thats great news Valerie. By the way, I didn't get your message but never mind. All's well that ends well
yes thanks Ladybird its looking great again now . Still keeping them all in shade as its really hot over her e.
I do have another problem though .
I have a link to remove this thread , but can't find where i actually do this ?
Valerie
Sorry Valerie. I'm pretty new here too and I have no idea about removing threads. Someone else will come along who knows what they are doing. I just leave all my threads.
