Japanese Knotweed or Not

can anyone let me know if this is Japanese Knotweed ?image

  • No, it is Himalayan Balsam. A weed, but easily pulled out by the roots.

    Don't let it seed as it will throw them all over the place.

    It can project its seeds over twenty metres!  it is also causing problems on river banks leading to erosion, and damages the ecology by smothering native plants.

    It's only saving grace is that the seedlings are pretty easy to recognise and pull up once you get used to them.

    Now I remember the plant, dosnt it pop when you touch the seed, thanks for all your help.
