I had this happen to me last year. I had prepared a pot for a dahlia, when I came to plant a week later, I found a hen's egg slap bang in the middle of the compost!! I presumed it was a fox, as we have a few hereabouts!
So, today my grandpa found an egg in his garden. It smelled horrible. He took it to the barn and then he smashed it and it was just an egg!! Any ideas what it could have been?

My daughter found a hen's egg buried in the pot for her standard holly tree which is by her front door. She was very surprised!
