lots of melon flowers - no fruit...

Hi I live in France and grow melons in a polytunnel.  We are in the south west so lots of sun and usually no problems.  I have hundreds ( literally!) of flowers, but no fruit is setting.  I have bees pollinating the flowers so this shouldn't be an issue.  Any ideas what is going on?  Many thanks !!

Well, I will reply as I too have raised a subject of melons on here and received no response. I also live in France so can relate to your problem. For ages I had lots of flowers and no melons growing. I was told by a neighbour it is too late for them now, however 2 weeks after she said that I had an influx of melons growing. They seem very late but not sure as this is my first year growing them. I now have 6. However I do not know when they are ripe so unsure about picking them. They are supposed to be softer at the stem and smell ripe but mine are neither. I thought they would ripen after picking myself??? Do you not have even tiny melons off of the flowers? I have had to hunt hard for mine but they are only just starting to grow with abundance now. Good Luck

I cant explain the lack of fruit, but I just wanted to greet a fellow melon grower! I grew watermelons last year but was too late so didn't get any fruit, but this year I am growing Galia melons, and have six fruits on two plants.

If you look carefully, do you have any tiny melons about the size of a pea, behind the flower? My six melons all came out of nowhere a couple of weeks ago, but since then, any new fruits have yellowed and died. Not sure why...? Shame, but at least I've got some!

Unfortunately though my plants have now got blight, so the leaves are looking very sorry ? Hope the fruits will be okay ?
