Gooseberry Plants
I have a gooseberry plant which is growing well on my allotment with old growth and plenty of new growth.
I have sprayed the plant earlier in the season with an proprietary insecticide to kill aphids/ caterpillars.
In two seasons I have not had one gooseberry from the plant.
Any advice?

Did you kill the insects that would have been pollinating the flowers?

You killed the bees!
I used Resolva bug killer. Described by the RHS as an approved spray concentrate and ready to use spray for controlling aphids, capsid bug, thrips, whitefly, beetles, caterpillars, pea moth, pea and bean weevil, sawflies, leaf curling midges, carrot fly adults and some other pests. Can be used on ornamental plants and a wide range of listed fruits and vegetables.
The list of insects it controls doesn't mean that it affects those insects exclusively - insecticides affect most insects
like most poisons that affect humans also affect other mammals.
I remove heavy infestations of aphids with a squirt from a hosepipe - lesser infestations are dealt with by the blue tit families.
What caterpillars were you finding a problem on your gooseberries?
