Has anyone noticed the Blackbird singing in Monty Dons garden on Gardeners World? Blackbirds only sing to attract a mate and my blackbirds have stopped singing for several weeks now.
It could be a recording, but I would really like know.

Blackbird song is also a territorial warning and at this time of year the second broods will be being warned off.
Our blackbirds are still singing in the early morning - maybe he does his filming before breakfast

Like Dove ours sing their hearts out around 05:15 when it's light but the world hasn't really woken up yet.
Blackbirds can sing all year round we just aren't out of bed early enough.
Who remembers hearing Bee eaters singing during an episode of Coronation Street or was it Emmerdale about 20yrs ago?
I wish the blackbirds did sing, but when they start then you know summer is on its way.
I have lots of black birds every morning noshing the insects in my lawn.. Usuallly about 4 or 5 daily.. They can have all they want..
