Choisya ternata, how far to plant apart?

I've just bought two Choisya ternata. I want them to overlap comfortably and not to have any obvious gap. How far apart should I plant them?

The guide says they "can" spread 2.5m, but I've also seen they might only spread 1.5m.

Personally I would plant them 1m apart. It is easy enough to clip them if you are a bit unsure about the 'comfortable overlap'.

A 1m apart would do the job.
