Red ants

Hi I have lots of little red ant nests and 4 fairly large mounds of nests in my garden. How do I clear them? Is digging them up the answer?

What's the reason for clearing them Andy?  Do you need to sit on the grass or have kids that might get bitten?  I generally don't bother to clear them, I live and let live but I do object to the flying ants in the conservatory every year (gonna get this sorted when we have it made into a garden room).

I have some living in a tree stump. They've been there for many years . I don't bother them and they don't bother me. So unless you have a reason for getting rid of them, you can leave them alone.

Ants who encroach on patio or in porch  or try to get into the house are dead! I use that stuff that looks like sugar. It's in a in a yellow tube with a red top.

Don't try digging them if they're large nests, you'll get bitten, and also be unable to clear them effectively. If they need to go bring a pest controller in, but bear in mind that the ants will come back unless the sites are made less attractive for them - they are there for a reason.
