Alliums

Hi All

I planted alliums for the first time this year (as ever a bit late) and they have finished flowering, the leaves have died back and the stalks are going brown.  I want to move them for next year.  Is it ok to store them in a dry light location or do they have to be put into dry peat or sand or whatever?  Should I plant them in their new location in the autumn or next spring?

    They need planting in autumn so it should be OK to lift them now and either keep them somewhere cool and dark or replant immediately in their new location.   They go on sale in my local shops in early September and are best planted straightaway so you won't have to store yours for very long at all.
