Plant name please

imageHi, could anyone tell me the name of this plant please, as I have forgotten, have had it for about four years & it's never been pruned.Would be grateful for some info on how & when to prune it. Many thanks. Elizabeth.

    You'll guess from the lack of response that readers might need some more clues!  Is it evergreen, does it flower, how tall is it and can you be really obliging and put in a close-up of the leaf and stalk, please?.

    Without any further info, I'd have a stab at Leucothoe.

    Is it that shrub with flat fuzzy pink flowers? The leaves look very similar, especially with the pink tinge but the remains of the flower stalk don't look quite right.

    I think it could be a Leucothoe too. Has it flowered? From memory, they mainly have clusters of little white flowers - similar to  a Pieris.

  • imageHi everyone ,thank you for your replies, here's a close up of the leaves & stalk,it has just finished flowering, the flowers are tiny little white ones that form a cluster,it is about 3ft tall & the same across, it has just starting to produce berries now. & it is evergreen

    I think Wayside is right.  Prunus lusitanica or Portuguese laurel.  The second photo is much clearer... it makes a good hedge.  image
