Balanced Compost

We make loads of compost, but it appears to be too high in nitrogen. How can we balance it?  We have access to supplies of seaweed; would this make a difference if added to our compost instead of digging it in to the soil?

  • Most garden compost is fine once it's spent a year or so 'cooking'. Why do you think yours is high in Nitrogen? Too much chicken manure?
