Dying wisteria

I have a wisteria growing in the corner of my garden, that's been doing  well for about 8 years but is now dying. I had a forsythia growing in the same place that just died as well.  Help please would it be some thing in the soil Other shade loving plants and ferns do well.

  • Sounds as though there's a problem down below - too dry? Is it up against a wall, where there are footings?  If so, it's possible that it has reached the largest size possible for the site and has outgrown the space.  Without seeing it I can't suggest anything else, but I suggest removing a lot of the top growth and giving it a soaking and a feed.

    Hi Hortum-cretae,

Many thanks for that, it is against a wall that is the boundary with a pavement on the other side. I have trimmed the top growth right back . It is watered regularly and I have given it a feed of slow release fertiliser. I would hate to lose it as it gives me some privacy.
