Push Mower

I have a Honda Izy (painted pink) which I intend to keep.  See avatar.

To take the mower to the back lawn I have to pick it up and carry it.  At 28 kg and having to keep it upright it gets a bit awkward to carry.

I am considering a push mower so that I can mow after the kids have gone to bed and hopefully it will be easier to carry.  I am worried about the wheels slipping though which is something an old (free) push mower did on me frequently 10 years ago, hence it being binned.  I would also like something with a high cutting height (at least 3 inches).

I fancy the Fiskars Staysharp Max (doesn't everyone) and also the Webb H18.  Both use contactless staysharp blades.  The Webb is £100 or so cheaper than the Fiskars, plus it has a roller and a bag.  The biggest downside to them both is the weight.  Both around 22/23 kg.

Does anyone have any experience of these mowers?  Any recommendations gratefully received.

Thanks

  • In the 11 months since I first posted, I think I can rule out the Fiskars on cost.

Perhaps a revised set of questions is in order.

I have some moss.  Is this a problem to a hand pushed cylinder mower?

Some mowers are light weight such as an Alko or Bosch.  Others are heavier such as the Webb H18.  Does the weight affect the performance?  I don't want it to lose traction.

Has anyone any opinions on the Webb H18?  This is the bigger of the two Webb hand pushed mowers.  It looks nice.

    Thanks
