hydrangea

my hydrangea now looks like the flowers are now very faded and dull should I prune them or not,i would appreciate any help regarding this problem.many thanks.

Hi michael. It isn't a problem - just nature. All you have to do is remove the faded flowers - down to the bud on the stem below the old flower. If there are any weak and spindly stems they can be cut down to a bud just above the ground, and then just leave.
We leave the pruning until next April after the fear of frosts, and the heads do look nice on a frosty morning.

I also leave the pruning until late Spring .... the old flower heads give a bit of protection to the newly emerging buds.
