Hi. I am new to the gardening world and wondered if anyone new why my bottle brush plant is not flowering. This is the first season it's been planted but is growing really slowly.
Any hints or tips on getting the best from this plant ?
Hi andycop. This plant is not reliably hardy in the UK unless you live in the south with a warm sheltered garden. It may be that you have a young plant and it needs a period of settling in prior to flowering.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Well i do live in the south however due to the aspect of the garden it does not get full sun all day which I've read it requires a lot of... ok i will be patient and hope for some colour soon.
Fingers crossed. I had to keep mine in the greenhouse where it lived happily for several years then sadly last Winter it just gave up and died. I got it after a holiday in Australia in 2009 where it grows like a weed!

Despite its origins, in a pot during the growing season it loves plenty of water. In the ground it's better able to survive. Yes, be patient, they flower on mature wood.
