Strawberries

My question to you all is ........ do you get a better crop of strawberries from old plants or new plants. This year we had a great crop of strawberries from two year old plants. Would one year old plants crop as well ? We don't know whether to keep the two year old plants for next year's crop or to rely on new cuttings ?

It's usual to replace after three years with runners made in the second year. Usually the best crop is in the second and third year and then they go downhill. If you have good plants it is easy to propagate your own runners, if they are showing signs of virus such as deformed leaves, buy new virus free stock.
