Beer traps

So two nights ago I set out a beer trap in one of my children's beakers (sorry kids) and in the morning there were 29 slugs in it which I thought must be some kind of record.

Until last night when 40 of the critters were caught!  Now I realise there probably isn't a Guinness world record for number of slugs caught in a single trap so I thought I'd ask you - has anyone ever caught more in a single trap in one night?!

That does sound an above average amount! I haven't had that many in a beer trap but did collect over 20 slugs and snails from around and on one Hosta back a few weeks ago

Oh yuck, that looks gross. What a waste of beer!

Haha.  Beer is much more replaceable in my opinion than hostas and my beautiful (ex) lobelia!

Sadly I've found that the better the beer the more slugs you get - they love Adnams Broadside image

I was very torn the other night when all I had to lure the slugs was my last Hobgoblin - I nearly wept pouring that out! They 'appreciated' it image

I can't drink beer so at least don't have the issue of wasting the good stuff but I did catch 12 slugs and a frog one night. After that I stopped using them as I felt so sorry for the frog (very much alive and kicking).

Ohhhhh no AuntyRach - not the Hobgoblin! One of my favourites!

Dove! You can't use adnams like that!

Hmmm might try tonight. Any idea if they go after cider.?
