ID please

I've just been given this as a gift. I think it comes from Tesco or Sainsburys but it's just labelled "Garden Plant". What is it and can I plant it outside?

Thanks Pete. Looks as if it isn't hardy then (which is probably a good thing as I'm not really all that keen on it!).

I love them as well, my mum used to grow lots of them from seeds, it looks better the right way up🙂

Yes, that's how I felt too, I'm afraid! I planted it outside and it didn't survive it's first winter....
