Unidentified water plant
Hello all!
I recently was in Germany for a wedding and was given some small seeds as a favor. The tag identified them as watercress and stated that they enjoy sun and should be planted in May-June.
Well, I did just that...but I don't think what I got was watercress. The seeds were about the size of your pinkie nail, hard and wrinkly. Within a few days they had sprouted (but only when placed so the slightly pointy was facing up) and you can see what I currently have growing. The leaves shed water and when you break the stems they smell slightly bitter.
Any help in identifying this would be much appreciated!

that's a nasturtium, garden plant, the leaves and flowers are edible and have a nice peppery taste.
Watercress is Nasturtium officinale, it's a Brassica
But nasturtiums are Tropaeolum major, Tropaeolaceae family
(just to confuse things a little more)
In the sticks near Peterborough
Excellent thank you both! I'm sure that's where the confusion came from, calling it watercress instead of nasturtium.
