More confusion

I bought one of the plug plant offers from t&m earlier in the year, aquilegia took well, and went into the garden a few weeks ago, I was assuming no flowers til spring next year but then I saw this this morning, a few feet away from a primrose (or polyanthus not sure)

Am I confused or are they? Or is this just more results from erratic weather?

Its more than likely the weird weather. There looks as if there is some leaf miner damage on the leaves in your Aquilegia pic.

We had a cold snap after a warmish spring - it made some plants think that they'd had another winter, and triggered some 'spring' flowering.  Some of my native primroses flowered just a couple of weeks ago.

The translucent tunnels on the leaves are the tunnels they burrow inside the leaf. If you spot the culprit at the end of the tunnel - squish it.
