Dephinium
I tend to grow only slug resistant plants in my garden because it's so expensive if your plants get eaten and time consuming keeping an eye on them.
I thought I'd try one delphinium in the garden to see how it gets on before planting more -it was a fairly tall one, about 3 foot.
Two days later it's a stalk. I won't be buying any more of those
Shame it was lovely while it lasted.

This year has been especially bad Lou. I use organic slug pellets and others use nematods.
Couldn't agree with you more yviestevie. Combination of the last wet winter and slugs. Next Spring will be a time of plenty of basal cuttings from whats left.
Delphiniums are their favourite dishes I'm afraid Lou
Nematodes and wool slug pellets have worked well for me in addition to natural predators like frogs, slow worms, hedgehogs, blackbirds etc. Try using methods to draw them in, bird feeders and baths, 5" round hole in your gates or fences. I grew mine in pots this year, as slugs have been hell here too but seem to be thinning out now. Spring was a nightmare.
Yes I wasn't sure if slugs liked them or not and they do so thank goodness I only bought one. I'll try hollyhocks next year, they seem to grow very successfully round here in other peoples gardens.
Talking of a night time visit Verdun, will someone please tell my OH that I am not losing it - midnight forays into the garden on a slug hunting expedition, decked out in my leather biking gloves and waterproofs, clutching my square ended fishing scissors and torch is all part of the fun of gardening and I am not going round the bend

I think you mught be a tiny bit round the bend Mynx.
Why would you touch slugs with your biking gloves?
