I think i may have a major problem: rust?

I've noticed in the last few days dying and browning foliage on on my flowering current. I thought it may be to do with the lack of rain and brushed it off. Went away for a few days and came back and went to prune the current and I noticed it seems to have spread to adjacent plants such as my forsynthia and raspberries. image So far it hasn't impacted my herbaceous border, but im worried about my rudbeckias which are quite close to the area.

That doesn't look like rust to me - it looks more like sun scorch to me.

Rusts are fungal diseases which only affect specific types or groups of host plants - they don't spread indiscriminately among neighbouring plants.

    I agree Pansyface - that's a strong possibiity too.

Thanks. The current could be due to pee but the damage to the forsynthia is very high off the ground - unless the cat was peeing from an adjacent tree? image I thought rust was unlikely, but for 4 different plant species to have similar browning is very odd.image Sun scorch is a possibility as it has been really sunny lately.

4 plants in four different families is equally unlikely for rust. I have many plants with rust but all except one are Malvaceae.

and it doesn't look like rust.

Physical damage would be my guess.
