The leaves look as if they may have been scorched by the sun.  Did you move them from a shady spot to one in full sun?

In addition to Muddyfork's question above ...

How often and how much were they watered prior to two weeks ago?

What sort of compost are they in and how long since they were re-potted?

My in laws have just had a look at them and think they may have been scorched by the sun. I have moved them around to the back of the house again. They were repotted last year...don't know what compost. Would Miracle Grow or something similar help? Many thanks.

Feeding them would not hurt.  You could also pick off the owner leaves to make them look a bit better.  They should regrow new leaves

I've found that plants don't tend to do very well in those bright glazed pots for some reason......maybe I'm just unlucky.......but I would slap that tree into something a bit more common or garden and see if that helps. To be honest, I wouldn't hold my breath. The tree could have suffered too much in hot sun.
