Is this plant a form of jasmine?

JadeyJadey Posts: 36

Hi, we ordered seeds for Night Blooming Jasmine online, they came in March, we planted them and now, 4 months later we have this 50-60cm tall plant that's just started sprouting some small red flowers. But Night Blooming Jasmine has white flowers...?!? So can anyone tell me if this is another variety of jasmine, or whether it's something else entirely or whether it is, actually, Night Blooming Jasmine? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated :) Jade

Update: The flower has opened up a bit and looks a bit different now so here's another photo:

It looks very much like a Hibiscus.

Thanks all, so after some more digging and Googling I am thinking it could be Mirabilis jalapa (four o'clock flower). It looks just like the pic on the RHS website. I will keep an eye on it and see :)

I thought it looked familiar, but was thrown by the name. Did it have big black seeds? I grew it one year from roots from poundland, and it had big black seeds that dropped everywhere, and they still come up all over the place. Still there are far worse weeds in this garden at the moment.

Yes it did! Oh no, is it going to sprawl all over the place?!?! I didn't even want it in the first place, it was supposed to be Jasmine! ?
