Apple blemish Problem
in Fruit & veg
Hi
I'm hoping that someone may have an answer to the problem I have this year with the developing apples on my 2 trees.
I have tried to upload a few photos with this post to help identify the problem, but not sure if they will show up.
To look at the apples, you would think they are bruised, as there is a brownish blemish on the skin. This is only on a patch, not covering the apple. On cutting the apple, the flesh is discoloured under the skin too. I have removed about 6 apples from one tree (the trees are quite small, as only planted 2 to 3 years ago), and 2 on the other.
I have never had this, or in fact any problems before.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like apple scab.

Have a look at this link.
Does it look like the ones in this recent thread?

If so and the 'bruises' are only on the upper parts, one possibility for both threads is that hail (been a lot of it about this year) bruised the young fruit and let in brown rot spores. It could be scab as Dave said though. A photo might help to identify but always difficult with this type of problem.
