Crab Apple Tree in trouble

I bought a Crab Apple tree a couple of months ago, has been looking fine however last couple of days the leaves have strated to turn brown and shrivel up.  Could it just be the intense heat, or have I got trouble.  How can I revitalise it if I can.imageimage

That looks thirsty to me. The trouble is that roots are often reluctant to leave the compost and when that dries out there are no roots in the soil outside to take up moisture. Give it a good soaking and them mulch around the area. Hopefully it will grow a new set of leaves.
