Greenhouse Tomatoes
in Fruit & veg
Even with the door and window wide open, my greenhouse is 104°F (40°C) - my English tomatoes have withered even though they are watered and fed regularly - my toms from the USA are loving it as you can imagine
Any ideas?

throw a white sheet over the house but keep the window and doors open, you can wet the sheet once its on as that might help too.
hi apple stew is the g/house plastic if so can you not do as treehugger says or can you not paint the plastic white or grey to take the heat out of the house . I often put a few pots of water in my g/h plus I throw a couple buckets of water on floor to cool down . you say window have you only 1 window I have 3 top windows 3 side windows and a large vent if you can invest in a vent lots of good ones on market now and can you not leave door open Michael
Thanks guys - yes door and window is fully open - yes plastic so may try the sheet and water on floor etc
Who'd have thought we'd have a heat problem eh?!!!
hi abovejust been down to water toms /peppers cues/chillis g/house 85dgs at 710am did some pricking tidying up weeded potatoes again watered winter cabbage chinnese cabbage gave the rhubarb a drink to keep it going ..as for shadeing in g house I have some floor membrane ( whiteish not grey but a dirty white ) but shades good keeps harsh sun light out .. I just tack it to wooden frame
Even my outdoor tomatoes are suffering in this heat, I have to water twice a day or they start to wilt.
