Total novice seeks advice on overgrown garden

Our new garden has been left to overgrow. We have cut things back and reintroduced the borders. We have removed the snails ???? and don't seem to have any worms so have added some compost into the soil and turned it over. How long should we wait to plant into the borders?

I would try adding well rotted manure as that will have plenty of worms in it,

as soon as the borders are clear I would water it well and wait two weeks, this will allow any weed seeds to germinate and any perennial weed roots to show themselves so you can deal with them before planting.

  • Thank you for your help.  I will give that a go and post some pictures when it is blooming image
