Brown leaves on my silver birch

About 3 or 4 weeks ago (June 2016) 2 branches of my silver birch were cut. I realise now that this was the wrong time of year. The tree was here when I moved in 30 years ago. Sadly now every leaf is brown. It looks Is dead. Is there any way it might be recovered?

Sorry, no. You can wait until next year and hope, but I don't think you'll get anything.

However, the good thing about birch is that it grows fast, and if you replace the tree  (use a professional, not a "tree surgeon" that knocks at every door in the street, carrying a chainsaw), you will have a new young tree in about 3 years.
