Photinia Red Robin Standard Trees

I have planted 5 mature Photinia Red Robin standard trees along the backline of our garden to provide some privacy. Unfortunately they have become very leggy, suffered significant leaf drop and have lost their density. What should I do? The nursery that I purchased them from has suggested a hard prune and rose feed. Is it possible to improve their density over time? I've attached a photo taken at dusk.
