    Are they only just flowering?

    The leaves look like Inula but the late flowering suggests Helianthus. 

    All my inulas have been over for weeks, it's the perennial helianthus now.

    What do you think Dove?

    No, these photos were a few weeks ago, only now got round to posting.  Looking a bit grotty now, but still statuesque.  I think you were right with Inula.image

    I get self seeded ones, I don't find they spread by roots like some other inulas
