holes in lawn and soil
Hi.Everymorning I have been finding small holes in my lawn and bigger deeper ones in my borders. could these be caused by squirrels?

might be foxes digging for grubs?
possibly a large bird (crow maybe- hard to say as there's no way of scaling the damage) doing the same, looks too little damage for badgers as they'd leave the place looking like the Somme
squirrels tend to leave it neater as they're burying stuff they don't want found by other squirrels.
Hi. Thanks for your reply. We have had a number of crows and magpies around so theye are probably the lawn culprits. I will keep a look out for foxes digging the borders.

Thanks for your reply. Think we will have to have a night vigil !!
We get quite a lot of badger damage like this. They can dig very substantial holes, but very often they just walk across digging up leatherjackets evey few paces. They don't need to go deeper for this and you get a fairly distinctive trail of small holes and scraped turf.
