What's happened to my apples?

I have two espalier apple trees growing on a shed, a Lord lambourne and another ( a cooker), they're 3 years old and this is the first year they have fruited as I bought them as bare root maidens and didn't let them fruit last year. The fruit have been doing very well but today I noticed brown patches on them, ranging in size from a cm to several cms across. It looks essentially as if they have been dropped and bruised as they flesh underneath has some give to it as well but obviously they haven't been hit as they're still on the plant. There are a number of apples affected from both trees and the only thing I can think it might be is some heat scorch from the recent hot weather. Is this a real thing?? Can I do anything to help the affected apples? There isn't a huge crop and I was really looking forward to them!! I can post a photo of it would help diagnosis.

  • Can you post a pic perchance ? Sounds like some sort of rot.

These are the worst affected apple. It does look like brown rot looking at the gallery but seems odd that it's on the top of all the affected apples.

  • Apples have now been disposed of, now down to 6 cookers :( hopefully it'll be enough to make a pie in the autumn....

    thanks for the advice!!
