Unhappy honeysuckle

Hi

Does anyone have ideas what's wrong with this mature honeysuckle?  It was doing really well, but I think I used tomato feeder on it, could that have done this?

Or have I over/ under watered it?

I am tempted to cut it right back to tidy it up and see if encourages new life- what would you do?

Completely lost as I usually almost neglect these and they seem to thrive!

Many thanks

Hi Zo F tomato feed won't hurt it.  In this area nothing has been under watered this year, summer only arrived 2 days ago. They don't like to be dry though. I think they do better in a bit of shade, but that might be down to my soil which is dry most years.

I'd give it a severe haircut, probably at the end of winter but I don't follow the rules, see what others suggest

Thanks!  Would you chop it back now?  I'm impatient!

When they are doing well, as yours is, they can get topheavy which is what has happened.  I agree cut it back.  I think I would do that in about February as Nut says.

Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
