Bit of help required please

Darren8Darren8 Posts: 46

Hello.

After taking the forum's advice re pruning grade 1 clematis ( which resulted in a roaring success ) I'm back to seek help once more.

This time I'm hopeful someone out there will be able to help me identify a couple of large shrubs / small trees I see regularly whilst out walking.

This is the first one situated in a local graveyard :

This is the second one in someone's front garden

Many thanks, in advance, for any help anyone can give with this.

the first is a Hebe, maybe Midsummer Beauty if i's a big one.

The second looks like the flowers of Aruncus sylvestris which is an herbaceous perennial but looks much like a shrub at this time of year

    Dave / Nutcutlet....wow.

After 2 weeks worth of typing ambiguous searches into Google I interact with real people and find the answers within 5 minutes.

Many many thanks to the pair of you.

Ps - The hebe was huge!!

Read up about pruning the Hebe. If left to their own devices they get very big, spindly and 'empty' in the middle.  I trim mine back regularly to get it sprouting lower down the branches.  They're one of my favourite flowers and the bees love it.

Midsummer Beauty does make quite a large specimen Darren. image

Aruncus doesn't seem as popular a plant as it used to be. Someone was  asking about one the other day on the forum though.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
