Our espalier Concorde gave us two dozen pears like this one this year, in only its second year of fruiting. I would have thinned them but I had a broken foot and the tree got left to look after itself and did very well, thanks to the damp summer
Hope yours does as well for you.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
This morning, an old lady walked into a well-known local café, where I was waiting for a friend, ordered a tea, and when she heard the barista’s non-British accent, asked her, “Where will you go after Brexit?"
"Wherever I like," the girl replied. "I have an EU passport."
What a mess we have by David Cameron offering this referendum. I just despair of people sometimes. It was quite obvious to those who had thought about it that leaving the EU was never going to a simple issue.
This will be one very serious and expensive mistake for the UK we will be paying for in years hence and damaging to the UK economy for many more years. It will create economic uncertainty. Who will now do our UK seasonal market gardening for example?.

Marvellous. The child refugee who makes us proud, glad and euphoric to be British!
Oh dear ... No pressure then

That's a beauty, Dove!
Sorry to hear about your foot,
but I imagine it's fine now?

An excellent reply

Gove doesn't need to swear on the Bible; we all trust every word he says. How comforting during such a period as this!!
I hope you're not being ironic. I hope you don't mean we shouldn't trust Gove!
Of course I'm not being ironic. I asked Boris whether Gove should be trusted and he assured me that Gove is absolutele trustworthy.
Do you think he was wrong??
