I love the clear-headed matter-of-factness of children! image

    Aren't children wonderful!

When George, the son of my cousin, was 3 years old, a heavily pregnant friend of his mother paid them a visit.  When he saw her, he looked at her in some amazement and told her, "You are fat!"  My embarrassed cousin told him, "No, she has a baby in her tummy."  George replied, "Don't be silly, mummy, you can't eat babies!"

I'm so excited!  Kazuo Ishiguro has won the Literature Nobel Prize!  Thrilling!!!

Alex, I love George.  He's absolutely right, you can't eat babies! image

  • I share your excitement about Ishiguro's recognition, Artemis.  He's such engaging writer.  I remember when reading The Remains of the Day, I'd lost many hours of sleep, as I'd found it hard to stop analyzing the themes of the novel!

Ishiguro is certainly an impressive author. I found The Remains of the Day truly thought provoking.

I'll risk a guess, the artist was a boy?  image

  • I'll hazard a guess too: Helsinki is not the capital of his country? image

It's been a bit of a day but then someone sent me this picture of Britain First's leaders on a European tour and it's rather...cheered me up.
