Summer Bulbs

i have a number of alliums and an agapanthus whose leaves have come up quite happily, a nice bright green, but have not flowered.  Should I get rid of the bulbs and start again?  Please advise.  Thank you.

Are the alliums planted  deep enough. ? I find they do better planted six inch deep, assuming they are the large type like globemaster or purple rain, or christophii.

Agapanthus may take a year or two to settle down and flower in the soil, they flower quicker if rootbound in a pot.

  • Thank you.  Would you dig them up and replant?  A few were globemaster.  Would you replant the agapanthus?

Alliums I would dig up, and plant deep later on in the year, assuming they have died down now. The tiny ones I lined out in the veg patch, I used for cut flowers, and now I have dug them up and dried them off. I will replant in gaps in the veg garden in September. I find they flower better if 6 inches deep. if shallow, the bulbs split and make lots of small bulbs.

    Agapanthus, I would just wait.

  • Thank you very much for your advice ... I will try your suggestions.  Many thanks.
