Advice on scruffy aubretia, please

Is there anything I could/should be doing to my very scruffy-looking aubretia at this time of year to make it look better now and do  well next year?image

Give it a good trim. Anything hanging down loose on a wall can go. If you trim it to within three inches of the roots it will be fine.

Best to cut them back (ie give them a bit of a haircut) immediately after flowering, which would usually be about late May/early June.  It might be a bit late to do it now and you could lose a lot of next year's blooms.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks for the advice. I will have a go at some of it now and leave some too  and see which is better next year. As it is quite old, I suppose water and a feed would not come amiss.
