help to identify this plant?

Please could anyone tell me what this shrub is. It is deciduous. New leaf growth comes as a salmon colour then turns green. It is about a metre tall and send out runners whch I then turn into new plants. Thanks!

Rhus typhina by the looks of it. It will grow into a tree and is very prone to sending out runners when under stress.

Now I would have said it was Sorbaria sorbifolia Sem, which is just as much of a thug as Rhus

When I say it sends out runners, I mean a couple of stems a year grow about 4-6 inches from the base, which I can then dig out and use as a new plant. It certainly isn't invasive at all.

It has very pretty long white flowers at the moment

...........and it is definitely not a tree. When I bought it, I was told it would eventually reach a metre and it has just about done that in 6 years. Dies back completely in the winter.

    Possibly one of the Astilbes?

Sorbaria has white flowers about now. Leaves are not the right shape for Astilbe.

I think we've been asked to identify this plant before and  if I remember correctly it was Nutcutlet who knew what it was ... I just wish I could remember what she said ...........................image

Great ID Berghill. Mine looks a bit more gold than that one

May not be such a thug for Alex, but it is a banned plant in parts of the USA as it is such a problem in the JK vein..
