Help

mindylass says:

Hi.  I have had this tree for about 5 years and had no problems but this year small red beetle looking nubs have appeared all over the bark. When removed they are filled with a white powder, any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Would it be possible to upload a picture of the affected tree to assist with identification?

Hi ladybird4 for some reason it won't let me upload a photo but the tree is a twisted hazel.

Look up coral spot on trees on the RHS website, and see if the picture there matches your red spots.

Also look up scale insects, especially brown scale.  Link to RHS:

If it's those, the white stuff is their eggs.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
